Joseph F. Scott is a strategic health care executive and trusted advisor with an exceptional record of achieving measurable and sustainable results in healthcare operations, quality, and finance. His vast healthcare experience includes system wide leadership in his role as Executive Vice President. He served as the President and CEO of 2 hospitals and a healthcare system. He has led mergers, integrations and turnaround of healthcare systems and launched far reaching community health initiatives. He has a passion for creating programs and services for the most vulnerable populations. His direct clinical experience as a Pharmacist provided a deep understanding of the clinical aspects of healthcare.

Prior to his current role, Joseph held a wide variety of senior healthcare executive positions. He served as the President and CEO of Liberty Health from 2008 through 2014 when he successfully integrated Liberty Health into the then Barnabas Health System. Prior to integration, he successfully turned the system around from a quality and safety, financial and patient and employee engagement perspective. In 2015, Jersey City Medical Center was awarded the Vision of Performance Excellence award, the state equivalent of the Malcolm Baldridge Award. Under his leadership the hospital received many awards including Magnet Designation, Leapfrog A for 15 of 16 scoring periods and has been designated a Leader in LGBTQ by the healthcare equality Index.

Joseph has served on many Boards. He is currently the immediate past Chairman of the Board of America’s Essential Hospitals where he chaired the Compensation Committee, and the Policy Committee for this national organization of over 350 hospitals and health systems. He was appointed by the Governor to the Board of New Jersey City University where he serves as Chairman of the Planning Committee. He has a passion for serving the community and is on the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Hudson, Union and Essex Counties. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce for 4 years and was largely responsible for the financial turnaround and viability of the Chamber. He also served as the immediate past chair of the Hospital Alliance of New Jersey.

Joseph is a national speaker on healthcare transformation. He has received many honors including; New Jersey American College of Healthcare Executive Distinguished Service Award, the Legends Award from the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, MFL Gala Honoree 2015 and The Jersey City Leadership Awards celebrating Jersey City’s Impact Makers.
